Our Rat tail shoot bolts are available in three different sizes to ensure we have a bolt to suit most doors. They are specifically designed to be usable in the horizontal or vertical positions and have a spring loaded catch mechanism. This is our 8" bolt which is ideal for securing larger doors including garage doors. We often supply the 8" bolt for use outdoors on gates. They all come with a mortice plate or staple for the receiver and are fitted using No.6 wood screws. The backplate for the bolt measure 1 1/2" wide and 8" long, the bolt has a throw of 3 1/2". All parts of the Rat tail shoot bolt are finished in a hard wearing wax which we recommend is maintained using a bee's wax polish.
